As I reflect on my life with Pam as her eldest sister I must say that I am most in awe of her lifelong passion of seeking Christ.
My earliest memories of her from our somewhat difficult family of origin are of a serious little girl with her cute little glasses and studious look as she seemed to always be reading and seeking discernment in life.
Did that mean she lacked humor? Absolutely not! Pam was ALWAYS up for a good joke and playing games. I think I have mentioned this to simply point out how well rounded Pam is.
It’s just that foremost, during her entire life’s journey, she has held tightly to “the map” for exploration set forth in the Bible. She has remained vigilant about this to the point of making sure the rest of us do not forget.
We shared so many joys and suffering along the way and now upon reflection my sense and estimate of the effects of suffering as I witness Pam’s journey only call to mind C.S. Lewis statement “God whispers to us in our pleasure, speaks to us in our conscience, but shouts to us in our PAIN”. “it is where we find redemption and in the deep place of suffering is where HOPE is formed”.
I applaud Pam today for the role of mother and grandmother that she excels in so amazingly but I truly celebrate her marriage to Brad.
We have all born witness to the sometimes difficult stages of our sibling’s marriages along life’s long and ever changing road. I celebrate the fact that though all of life’s challenges and ups and downs, Pam and Brad have never failed to maintain their COVENANT before God.
I say this after having a geriatrics practice and being able to witness the selfless and abiding love that bears fruit after so many years together!
Pam, we are all here to honor you on your journey and take comfort in Hebrews 2:10…
God is speaking to us that everything on this earthly life is temporary except for his love, which can go into death with us and take us through it and into his loving arms.
WE LOVE YOU SWEET ANGEL!
