My darling Pam,
What a glorious day yesterday was. I’m so glad that I got some pictures to remember the day. This is from the Heidelberg Catechism, a portion of which I shared from yesterday.
Around our house we normally quote the Westminster, but I thought this most appropriate for this year.
LORD’S DAY 10
27. Q. What do you understand by the providence of God?
A. Providence is the almighty and ever present power of God by which God upholds, as with his hand, heaven and earth and all creatures, and so rules them that leaf and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and lean years, food and drink, health and sickness, prosperity and poverty—all things, in fact, come to us not by chance but by his fatherly hand.
28. Q. How does the knowledge of God’s creation and providence help us?
A. We can be patient in adversity, thankful in prosperity, and for the future we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that no creature will separate us from his love. For all creatures are so completely in his hand that without his will they can neither move nor be moved.
How marvelously have we been the benefactors of God’s hand of providence? These words quiet my anxious heart and give rise to my voice in worship, for by them we are encouraged to patience and thankful in his blessings.
Today I am most thankful for the blessing of time. Time to draw close, close enough to hear your whisper; time to mark the days and memories of a life well lived. Time to drink in the love you share with others and they share back with you.
I promise to make the most of what time we have remaining, memorializing this great adventure of life that we have shared.
Loving you is what I’m created to do,
Brad
